MFT Get Sketchy – # 165

Hello Everyone!

It is a lovely spring day here warm and sunny with lovely spring flowers blooming! After such a wet and dull winter (although not much snow which is very unusual for this part of the world) it really is a welcome sight!

Anyhow on to today’s card. This is for MFT Get Sketchy #165. I have loads of MFT dies I really love them and am particularly enjoying the word dies and Blueprints with all of their cool elements.

Here is the sketch……….

One of my favourite paper collections at the moment is Plus One by Amy Tan…I just love it! So of course I had to use it on this card along with MFT’s Birthday Sentiments Stamp Set to create a banner greeting across an acetate window. I lined the inside of the card with another paper from the collection to provide a contrast to the paper on the front.

Supplies: Card – PTI Stamper’s Select White, MFT Sour Apple. Papers – Plus One by Amy Tangerine for American Crafts. Stamps – MFT Birthday Sentiments. Dies – MFT Fishtail Flag Stax,  Spellbinders  Standard Circle Large. Ink – Versafine Onyx Black. Buttons and Acetate – From my stash.

Hope you have a great day!

Again I kept it simple and stuck pretty much to the sketch as given making a focal point out of some stacked hello die cuts from My Favorite Things. I stacked up several white die cuts and topped the stack with an aqua one. I love the look of these and have used them on quite a few cards. As a finishing touch I added a few sequins.

The papers are from one of my current favourite 6 x 6 paper pads……Garden Party by Pebbles. I just love the pink, green and aqua combination!

So here is my card…….

A great simple sketch that would be a basis for many different cards. For my card I followed the sketch pretty closely using a couple of great Paper Smooches sets and some cool new papers from the new AMy Tangerine line – Plus One.

I usually try to interpret sketches in a more creative way but as I am still having to look around for my mojo a bit so I am keeping things simple for now :)

So here is my card………

I’m Still Here!!

Hello everyone!

Just a quick update…….I’m still here!!!

Lately I have had almost no time to make cards/enter challenges or even just be in my craft room. Instead I have been spending time helping my daughter renovate her new house which is fun but does use up most of the time I usually spend crafting!

However yesterday evening I did have a little bit of time to at least sit in my craft room and try some crafting but as is often the case after a lay off nothing seemed to go to plan and I just ended up with 2 half made cards that I do not really like and a messy desk!!…………

Oh Dear……….here it is!!…

P1000691

So when the house is finished and I have a little more time I will need to search hard for my mojo and get back to card making. But as we all know the only answer to lost mojo is just to sit down and start creating until little by little it  starts to come back…..I will be looking forward to that!!

Back soon with an actual card!!

Have a good week!

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday # 134

Hello again!

At last I have had a chance to sit down and create…..It’s been very busy around here no time to escape to my craft room!

Anyway today I have a card for Papertrey Ink’s Make It Monday # 134. This is the first time I have posted a card for this challenge but I have entered their monthly blog hop a couple of times.

I love  Papertrey Ink products particularly stamps with matching dies and all the colour coordinated products. The Stamper’s Select White Cardstock is simply the best I have used as it is great for card bases stamping and die cutting…….Oh and believe me when I say I have tried quite a few from different companies!!

The only down side for me is as I live in the UK shipping is very expensive but as I love it so much I will probably keep ordering!!

Anyway on to the card!! The technique from this week’s Make it Monday is called repeat and lift and uses ghost stamping to create a halo around a coordinating die cut image. It looks very effective using a word stamp and die (see video here) but I decided to use a coordinating heart stamp and die from  Framed Out #11 to create a sweet luuurve card! Apart from the stamping technique I kept the rest of the card pretty simple just adding a sentiment and button for a finishing touch.

So here is my card………

P1000677

Supplies: Card – PTI Stamper’s Select White and Pure Poppy. Stamps and Dies – Framed Out # 11 stamp and die and Signature Greetings Stamp Set. Inks PTI Pure Poppy , Raspberry Fizz and True Black. Button and twine from my stash

Back soon enjoy the rest of the week!

For my third and final card for the hop I took a Christmas theme again  and decided to make a wreath out of buttons. I die cut a Tag Sale # 4 out of white card and cut the middle out to create a wreath shape. Then I used a selection of buttons to create the wreath and added a ribbon and sentiment to finish.

Here is card 3……..

Birthday Card Duo!

Hello Again!

So I seem to be making a lot of birthday cards lately!! These two variations on the same design were made for a card order but I was not happy that they met the brief given….They started out as wedding cards. So I turned them into birthday cards as you can never have too many of those right!!

Here are the cards……

P1000570

P1000572

Both cards were made by layering papers from on the top one Websters Pages Girl Land and the bottom from Echo Park Beautiful Life. The 2 centre strips were die cut using PTI Half & Half Dies . For the sentiment I used one of my favourite PTI dies – Happy Day -I love it as it is great for layering with so many other die cut/punched shapes in this case the Large Oval from SU. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches Birthday Sampler – another of their great fun sentiment sets . Lastly I added some ribbon and buttons to finish them off.

Supplies: Card – PTI Vintage Cream. Papers – Websters Pages Girl Land and Echo Park Beautiful Life. Dies PTI Half & Half Dies and Happy Day Die. Stamps – Paper Smooches Birthday Sampler. Ink – Versafine Onyx Black. Ribbon MFT Grapesicle Grosgrain and SU Daffodil Delight Taffeta. Buttons – PTI New Leaf and Lemon Tart.

See you soon, enjoy your weekend!
